Playa Negra

With some of the most consistent waves and surf breaks in the country, Playa Negra is a very popular surf beach in the Guanacaste region. Featured for it’s beauty in the movie The Endless Summer II, this dark sand beach lies a bit further south of the lovely Playa Avellanas. The surf at Playa Negra is a reef break, making it ideal for the novice as well as the expert surfer. Playa Negra is located just 3 miles North of Playa Junquillal.

Playa Tamarindo

Tamarindo Beach is a three and a half kilometer stretch of white sand and warm blue water. Known for it’s surf, this beach is an ideal spot for surfers of all levels. Tamarindo is surrounded by National Parks to its north and south, and mountains with breathtaking views to its east. Nature is abundant, Leatherback Turtles lay their eggs in the northern part of the bay. Howler Monkeys are heard and seen swinging on branches throughout Tamarindo.

Playa Langosta

Playa Langosta is protected nesting areas for the giant leatherback turtle, and is part of the Costa Rican national park system. Playa Langosta is ideal for those who want to have some fun while enjoying the stunning beauty of the area. A mostly rocky shoreline with small pockets of sandy beach, Playa Langosta is definitely worth visiting especially if you happen to be in the Tamarindo area.

Playa Avellanas

Playa Avellanas is one of the most beautiful coastlines of the Tamarindo area. There is nothing but pristine beach with crooked old trees providing shade, and backlands covered with scrub, marsh land and pastures.  Playa Avellanas offers beach-goers seeking a more remote coastline a chance to relax in the sun or shade of a near tree.
